Liraglutide Injection is an injectable prescription medicine used:
- along with diet and exercise to lower blood sugar (glucose) in adults and children who are 10 years of age and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
- to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus with known heart disease.
Victoza® is not for use in people with type 1 diabetes. It should not be used with other medicines that contain liraglutide. It is not known if Victoza® is safe and effective to lower blood sugar in children under 10 years of age.

Liraglutide In Pakistan ”“ This medicine is used to control blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetics with a proper program of exercise and diet. It is also prescribed for patients with type 2 diabetes who are at risk of heart attack or stroke and who have some type of heart or blood vessel disease. Another common use of this drug is to help obese patients lose weight along with exercise and a low-calorie diet plan. Mean age of cohort was 55 years (SD=10.94 years) with median body mass index of 36.45 kg/m2 and majority (57.35%) were on a dose of 1.2 mg of Liraglutide per day. Median HbA1c reduced to 7.50% and 7.40% at three months and six months respectively vs 8.45% at baseline. Mean reduction in weight after three months was two kilograms and at six months, it was 1.38 kilograms respectively.
