In both humans and animals, ipamorelin dramatically raises plasma growth hormone (GH) levels. Moreover, ipamorelin causes animals to acquire weight. Ipamorelin has no effect on prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), or thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels, much like pralmorelin and GHRP-6 do.[3] Ipamorelin, however, is very selective for initiating the secretion of GH alone and does not promote the production of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) or cortisol, in contrast to pralmorelin (GHRP-2) and GHRP-6, but similarly to growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH).
